This site is dedicated to spreading awareness about individuals living with a variety of learning challenges. Understood’s mission is to advocate for and equip those with learning differences to have a thriving way to live, work, and learn. They host live chats with professionals and offer tons of practical tips for families. Be sure to check out their online simulations.

Learning Without Tears

Learning Without Tears has a mission to make learning and teaching easy and fun by providing superior educational products, professional development, and materials to educators and families. MindRise Learning utilizes these methods and products in sessions as appropriate. Their specialization is handwriting and hands-on, age-appropriate learning for literacy and school readiness, along with educational support throughout the elementary years.

Wilson Language Training

The Wilson Reading System® (WRS) is an intensive Tier 3 program for students in grades 2-12 and adults with word-level deficits due to a language-based learning disability, such as dyslexia.

 As a structured literacy program based on phonological-coding research and Orton-Gillingham principles, WRS directly and systematically teaches the structure of the English language. Through the program, students learn fluent decoding and encoding skills to the level of mastery. MindRise learning utilizes WRS methods in lessons, but is not affiliated with Wilson Language Training.

The Literacy Nest

Certified Dyslexia Practitioner and the creator of The Literacy Nest, Emily, provides a huge amount of resources for educators and parents. This site is a great way to learn how to use The Orton-Gillingham Approach. There’s also free resources along with some for purchase for teachers and parents. The Yale Center for Dyslexia and Creativity

You may or may not know the ground-breaking book, Overcoming Dyslexia was written by Yale professor, Dr. Sally Shaywitz. As Yale’s continued commitment to educating the families and educators about dyslexia, Yale has a host of fact sheets and updates on dyslexia legislation.

Bright Solutions for Dyslexia

Susan Barton is recognized internationally as an expert in dyslexia. She is in the Hall of Honor at the headquarters of the International Dyslexia Association. Her goal is to help parents, teachers, and others understand dyslexia—so they can provide the right type of help. Website features many videos and success stories.

This site has dyslexia assessments, research, and a list of reading programs that have been proven to work. It also has a useful section on special education law in the United States.
